--why do you create your photographs?
As life flows forward each moment is there and then gone. Some moments are special, some exciting, some playful and some serious.
With each moment comes an emotion, a mood, a feeling. As a photographer I want to capture that moment for you so it can be cherished and shared....
--what is the history behind your photographs?
Growing up I always loved art and creativity. Not always highly refined art, or artists, but the very act of creating.
Over the years as I began to express myself as an artist I worked in several mediums from metal to wood and even tried photography a couple times.
I was never able to afford enough film to practice taking photos back then. Partly because I wanted to take pictures of everything I saw.
Eventually I tried digital photography and digital editing.......and I was hooked.
--what are you trying to express in the photographs?
I am fascinated with light, with shadows, and how they can drive our impression of a scene or event. I am fascinated with people. How they act, how they look and how they feel.
People have an inner energy that is best shown through the things they are passionate about.
Passion is the point at which a person’s energy mixes and merges with the light and shadows that surround them. I want to capture that in my images.
--who or what inspires you to make your projects?
I like to understand things but in the process of understanding I have learned that things are rarely simple.
They say every coin has two sides, but it also has an edge, and a material it is made from, and a process to make it, and so on….
It would be silly to think I could capture the essence of a person or a place in a single image. No, it takes time to study a subject and understand it.
But a subject or person must be open to study and to exploration, otherwise I can do nothing for them.
